Diesel pumps are specialised and portable type of water pump. It's counterpart is the petrol driven water pumps. These pumps are unique in that they are not powered by electricity. Therefore making them independent of the electrical grid.

How do diesel or petrol pumps run ?

These pumps use diesel or petrol as their fuel source. These portable pumps have their own integrated generators that act as an engine, this generates the electricity needed for the pump.

When are portable diesel pumps used ?

Diesel pumps tend to be large and portable using a trailer. They are ideal in remote areas where electricity isn't available. They are good for draining large areas or moving high volumes of water. Because of, the fact they do not require external power they are desired in many broad environments. It is advisable to have an engine driven pump for water defence, like flooding in case of a power outage.
